Iranian Missile Strike Injures US Personnel at Kuwait Air Base

(MENAFN) Four US service members and three civilian contractors were injured in an Iranian ballistic missile strike on a US air base in Kuwait last week, according to a media report on Sunday, which said the attack was carried out in response to an American strike in southern Iran.

The report stated that all seven individuals sustained minor injuries and returned to duty within 24 hours, citing a media outlet.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted a US airbase in Kuwait as retaliation for an American airstrike near Bandar Abbas Airport in southern Iran. According to a news agency, the IRGC said the strike occurred at 4:50 a.m. local time (01:20 GMT), several hours after what it described as a US attack near the airport using aerial projectiles.

In a later statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the incoming missile was “successfully intercepted by Kuwaiti forces.”

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions that escalated on February 28, when the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran. Tehran responded with waves of drones and missiles across the region and later moved to close the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports.
