Iranian FM Says US Entered ‘War of Choice’ on Israel’s Behalf
"Mr. Rubio admitted what we all knew: U.S. has entered a war of choice on behalf of Israel," Araghchi wrote on the US-based social media company X, amid the ongoing US-Israeli military operations targeting Iran, which began on Saturday.
Araghchi emphasized that Iran had "never" posed a threat and contended that "both American and Iranian blood is thus on Israel Firsters." He also called on US citizens to "take back their country," asserting that they "deserve better."
The US and Israeli strikes on Iran have sparked criticism from Democrats toward the US administration, according to reports.
Earlier, on Sunday, President Donald Trump stated in a video shared on his Truth Social platform: "I call upon all Iranian patriots who yearn for freedom to seize this moment, be brave, be bold, be heroic and take back your country."
Since Saturday, joint US-Israeli operations have reportedly killed several high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting US-affiliated sites across Gulf countries.
Reports indicate that six US service members have been killed, with several others seriously injured. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the total death toll from US and Israeli airstrikes since Saturday has reached 555.
