Netanyahu, Trump Talks to Center on Iran Talks

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is slated to hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday, with the agenda focused on dialogue surrounding Iran, his office indicated.

In a message released via X, Netanyahu’s office stressed the government’s stance, stating: “The Prime Minister believes any negotiations must include limitations on ballistic missiles and a halting of the support for the Iranian axis.”

Tehran and Washington restarted indirect discussions over Iran’s nuclear program on Friday, following several weeks of escalated strain driven by President Trump’s warning of potential military measures against Iran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi characterized the initial exchange as a “good start,” noting that progress could be sustained if mutual suspicion is reduced. He added that both parties agreed to move the process forward and might meet again in Muscat, Oman, at a future time.

Araghchi also clarified that Iran’s missile capabilities are excluded from the agenda, both presently and going forward, labeling the issue a “defensive matter.”
